Merry Christmas!
I hope everyone has been having a wonderful holiday! I am pretty pumped about my Christmas this year. Not only did I get to spend a ton of time with my parents/dog, we had some fun too! I got my dad a bunch of records, and made my mom a book to use during her upcoming retirement! I also got the Martha Stewart craft station, which I have been looking at for a LONG time and am IN LOVE with!
Besides Christmas, I've been up to a whole lotta nothing, and have been loving it...for the most part. I got to see my best friend in the world this past week...he's probably the most amazing person I know...It was amazing being able to see him again after so long.
Sorry I've been so low on posts lately...I havn't had much to do topic wise but should have some more coming up as I am starting project life for 2013!

Lack of ideas, finals, and final recovery=Lack of blogs.
So I've pretty much been running on caffine for the past few weeks. I had finals last week, and while I only had three of them...they were BRUTAL...but now I am done. I've spent the past 4ish days 'recovering' and just chillaxin.
So, now that I have some time, AND some ideas, I'd like to share my 4 favorite designers!
They are in no particular order, as I do not favor one over another.
1) Whimsy Couture, she is absolutely phenomenal I love love LOVE all of her designs. I have even been lucky enough to be a pattern tester for her a couple times!
Here is her Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/whimsy.couture?ref=ts&fref=ts
and her Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/whimsycouture?ga_search_query=whimsy+couture&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all&ref=sr_gallery_5
2) Violette Field Threads, another amazing designer. I love her style of design and how sweet it is!

3) Blissful Sewing/Thread Couture, one of my most recent 'discoveries'. Absolutely ADORABLE designs, and I love the variety.

Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ThreadCouture?ref=pr_shop_more
4) Lastly is Heidi&Finn. I discovered them almost 2 years ago when I started sewing seriously. They design for both boys and girls which I love. As much as I love sewing dresses and pretyt things, the occasional sweatshirt is nice too :)
Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/heidiandfinn?ref=pr_faveshops
So, check out these ladies today! They have a great and short turn around time from purchase to pdf download, and they are EXTREMELY HELPFUL if you ever need clarification on patterns.

So I'm a failure...
At blogging. Seriously...how long has it been? This is just sad.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING...only like 2 weeks late >.>...
But for the remainder of my thankfulness...I can sum it up like this.
I am thankful for the quiet thanksgiving that I had with my family
I am thankful for spending black friday with my amazing friends, Katie and Hayley and Nathalie...
And lastly...
I'm thankful for the last four years that I've spent with an amazing person, who has truly impacted my life. I already wrote about him once for my 30 days, but he really has impacted me that much...I'm who I am, I'm here now, because of him.
I've heard it said That people come into our lives for a reason Bringing something we must learn And we are led To those who help us most to grow If we let them And we help them in return Well, I don't know if I believe that's true But I know I'm who I am today Because I knew you...

The above literally explains it all perfectly...
Hopefully I am back in a shorter amount of time...after this week (Wednesday) I'm on break for 5 1/2 weeks...which will be very nice.

Just give up on me... :P...Days 27,28, and 29 of Thankfulness
Okay so I'm just a failure at blogging everyday :P Lets just leave it at that.
On tho my thankfulness!!
Day 27 of Thankfulness, I am thankful for my ability to to have creative outlets...Without scrapbooking and sewing among other things, I love that I can document my life through such an 'artistic' lens :P
Day 28 of Thankfulness, I am thankful for my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. K and my elementary school gym teacher, Mr. D. They are the only two remaining teachers at my elementary school that I had, and I currenlty volunteer for the both of them every Wednesday. They are part of the reason that I switched majors and I decided on my future career path of early childhood education. I love their ability to teach, even when the student is 19 years old :).
Day 29 of thankfulness, I am thankful for Coldplay. As I sit with my best friend Bo, watching Coldplay Live, and reminising on the concert we went to this past August, I can't help but think about how flipping amazing they are, and how much they have 'been with me' through...They are what brought Bo and I together 4 years ago...their music has been there in my darkest and brightest times, and seeing them live in concert LITTERELY brought me to tears multiple times (Especially during 'Lovers of Japan'...but that's another story :P)...Anyway. Coldplay and all of it's members, are not only an amazing band to me, but a lifeline. Their music is so connectable, unlike much of today's popular music, and can bring anyone out of the darkness and into 'Paradise'. <3
I will *hopefully* see you all tomorrow for the final day of thankfulness!

There is no hope for my slack-ness...Days 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26...dear lord.
OH MY LORD! I am pathetic...I can't believe I skipped six flippin' days of blogging! UGH! In my defense I was pretty busy with friends who I havn't seen since september...we had some totes cray cray times :P (I promise I will NEVER EVER utter those words again haha)
Happy *belated* thanksgiving to anyone reading this! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I know I did. Although we didn't do our usual big family dinner with 50 gazillion extended relatives in the twin cities, I loved the quiet dinner that my parents and I had...plus I got to spend time with some really awesome people who I've missed so much.
Anyway, on to my thankfulness!!!
Day 21 of thankfulness, I was thankful for all of my friends who were coming home for the thanksgiving holidays! Hayley, Katie, Nathalie, Gabby, and Dakota--although I only say Hayley, Katie, and Nathalie it was totally awesome. Hayley and I went black friday shopping, just for the fun of it and completely exhausted ourselves...I'll include some pics of the insanity at the end...just keep in mind this was the SMALL Target in our town, from what I've heard the Super Target was WAY worse. (To put it in perspective, I stood in line for nearly an hr and 1/2 to PAY...not to get in). I also got to have coffee with Hayley and our friend Nathalie...the three of us havn't hung out in what seems like years and it was an absolutly awesome morning. Then on Friday my friend Katie and her sister and I went to Joann's where again I spent an hr and 1/2 waiting at the cutting board...but it was worth it...we saved over $275...which was WAY more than we spent (Thank you 25% off total purchase AND student discount!) Plus that evening we went to Katie's house and watched movies till 1am. It was a truly awesome weekend.
Day 22 of thankfulness, I am thankful for the dinner we had, for the food, for the quiet day, for the discussion about turkey reproduction (they rub butts together, don't ask). It was so nice to spend a nice day with my parents and not see my mom stressed about work or my dad stressed about my mom. Plus I got a TON of cuddles with my annie :).
Day 23 of thankfulness I am thankful for the awesome night (mentioned above) that I had with my friends Katie, Elizabeth, and Jess (And katie's sister Becky). All through high school I always felt unattached...now I finally feel like I fit in, even with my HS friends who I wasn't close with in the past. Watching movies and laughing all night was so much fun...especially the text from the pizza delivery boy...oh lordy.
Day 24 of thankfulness...this is truly my lazy post/day. I spent. All. Day. In. Pajamas. It was AMAZING. Need I say more?
Day 25 of thankfulness (this is from my FB status) Day 25, I am thankful for my dog Annie, she is the sweetest pupper ever. As John Grogan said... "A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pu

As I sit here with tears in my eyes...I ask the question, how many people are there that greet you every morning with a happy face and a kiss, or treat you like you've been gone for years when you come home from an hour of errands, or that know when something is wrong and they silently come up and lay by you and somehow seem to understand it all...dogs are special, one of a kind...especially mine. I love you Annie Lou ♥

LASTLY (for today...) Day 26 of thankfulness...I am thankful that the car dealership was able to get me in on short notice to get my car an oil change and a 35,000 mile check-up. My 'oil life' or whatever was only at 15% and after the 'accident' I had over the summer...I am so very thankful to have such an awesome place to go for my car.
NOW...lets see if I can actually blog tomorrow too :P...

30 Days of Thankfulness, Days 19 and 20
Yay! I'm a little bit less of a slacker! It's a reason to celebrate :)
Anywho...
Day 19, I am thankful for only having ONE day of classes this week! It was so awesome :) Plus...on a not so awesome note, I am slightly thankful that I got into my dentist today and they were able to repair a filling for me :) Lets just hope it doesn't end up in a root canal like hawaii last christmas...but that's ANOTHER story :D...
Day 20, I am thankful that I got my test in psych back...and...I GOT A B!!! That is my best grade to date, and I am SO excited about it. I worked really hard studying, and it really payed off.
So, now I am caught up, and I feel like I acomplished SOMETHING for the day, besides getting dressed, haha.

Hello my name is Susan, and I am a slacker...Days 15, 16, 17, AND 18...
So for the past few days I have been...busy to say the least. Exams, plus a last minute trip to a friend's sister's house...but I'm back.
Day 15, I am thankful for my friend Hayley. We've been friends for so long, and she's always been there for me. She's such a fun awesome person, and I feel so lucky to have her in my life. She definitely not only adds happiness and entertainment...but some pretty interesting things as well :P. I love you girlie♥
Day 16, I am thankful for cute little puppies! and My friend's sister for letting me stay with them this weekend. My friend's car broke down, so I drove her down to her sister's and stayed there until saturday. They had an ADORABLE 7 week old lab retriever pup...his mouth hurt and I forgot how HARD pups are, but the cuddles are worth it :).
Day 17, I am thankful for a cop. Yesterday I got pulled over not even 2 minutes after realizing I left my purse, with my wallet, and my license at my friend's sister's house...45 mins away...I get pulled over. I guess I am thankful that he didn't 'take me in for driving without a license'...although I now have 4 pts on my license, and a $88 fine...it could have been A LOT worse.
Day 18, I am thankful that the associate dean at my college, after approx. 5-6 months of working on it, has found someone to asses my ASL level to fulfil the requirement for a 2nd language. And, even better...the person assesing me...is my ASL 1 teacher from my jr year of high school! She is so awesome and I love her. This is seriously amazing, I could not be more grateful for all the word that Dr. Quinn has done and for Mrs. Laux agreeing to do this :)

30 Days of THankfulness...Days 12, 13, 14
Wow I am slacking on these days of thankfulness! I need to get on them! I'm just happy that I'm actually vlogging 'somewhat' consistently! Okay, so on to my thankfulness!
Day 12 of Thankfulness, I am thankful for my home, and everyone who has helped us make it our home. All of the early morning pounding that woke me up, was totally worth it to see my parents happily hanging pictures and truly making our house a home again. Not only this, but I am thankful for our new heater, so we can stay warm on these cold fall/winter nights. So many people are not this lucky and I pray that everyone can at least find warmth on these cold nights.

Day 13 of Thankfulness, I am thankful for 1 free year of amazon prime, because it's saving me a ton on christmas shopping. I know, I'm being EXTREMELY materialistic...but I really am thankful for it! TY lord for student discounts!!
Day 14 of Thankfulness, I am thankful for all of the BEAUTIFUL little girls that I babysitt. I've had the privledge of watching each of them grow frim tiny babes to the amazing sweet toddlers they are now! I am also thankful for the new babies who have recently come into this world/are going to be coming soon! I feel so LUCKY to have them, as well as their mama's and daddy's in my life!

30 Days of Thankfulness. Days 10 and 11
Day 10 of thankfulness, I am thankful for my new friend Alyssa. The past few weeks in school, I've felt pretty alone. I've only got a couple friends, and living at home doesn't help that. But Alyssa and I have gotten along from the start and this past Friday we babysat and almost died together (not really but we were that tired, haha) and honestly, I just feel like I can be myself around her and that feels so great, because it's something that I havn't felt in a long time.
For Day 11 I am thankful for my dog Annie. She's such a cuddle bug and I love her to death :). She makes me so happy and fills my life with so much joy.

30 Days of Thankfulness. Days 8 and 9
Okay so I got busy...and now I am doing days 8 and 9!!
Day 8 is a small one. I am thankful for 'accidently studying' and realizing I knew a lot more than I thought! Back story...for my philosophy class, we had an exam on thursday, and a paper due today (friday). The exam/paper covered the last 2 units...I was going to do the esssay on the unit that I didn't know as well, Existentialism, since I could use my notes and text book, and the exam on Buddhism/Hinduism when I couldn't use resources. Well Wednesday night, I had my friend Alyssa over...and we studied. I was 'working on my essay' which actually turned out to be studying for my exam...so when it came to take the exam...I knew enough to do it on existentialism and actually do the easier essay prompt! This was awesome for me :)
Day 9 is also pretty short, but I am thankful for friends coming to babysitt with me. I am babysitting from 6-midnight tonight for one little girl who will be asleep most of the time...so my friend (alyssa again! Haha) is going to come with me! I am SO grateful for that...I hate babysitting alone when it's going to be more than 3 or 4 hrs w/ a sleeping kid...especially out in the middle of the country!!! ahh!
I hope everyone had a good week and is looking forward to the weekend! I know I am!!!

30 Days of Thankfulness. Day 5, 6, and 7
Okay, here we go.
I took a short hiatus, because of the election. I hate that I got so wrapped up in it, but I did. I let the results get to me way too much and while I am passionate about what I believe in, neither side really stood up for these beliefs like I had felt they were at the time. Now that I look at it, I was voting for 'the lesser of two evils' and while the outcome wasn't the lesser of my evil, I'm going to look at it as maybe something good will come out of it. It can't be all bad, right?
Anyway, lets go.
Day 5 I was thankful for my friend Jana and her family. I'm just going to copy/paste my status from FB that day, because I feel like I said everything I wanted to in that :)
"Day 5 of Thankfulness. I am thankful for Jana and her family, Luke, Brynlee, and now Reezlyn! We've been friends only for a little over 6 months, but they've made a big impact on my life! 'quality' movies :P to going out shopping, having scrub days, and pedicures...I'd say I am pretty lucky to have them all in my life :) Plus...Jana is seriously an amazing role model...she is now the mother of a 2nd beautiful baby girl after a long labor and still went natural...she is a strong mama and a huge inspiration!"
*I also added my new friend Alyssa. She's pretty epic and hilarious and although we havn't really hung out, she's already a really good friend and I feel like she's someone I can trust, and be myself around which for me, is a big deal.*
Day 6 was very very very short and to the point. For day 6, I am thankful for the election being almost/completely over (I originally posted the status at midnight, before the election was over...but the feeling throughout the day was continuous lol).
Day 7 I am thankful for understanding professors. I've had a REALLY hard time adjusting to college. I've had anxiety issues and depression and ADD issues...and my professors have been amazing. They are understanding of what I'm dealing with, and are so supportive. I couldn't ask for better professors. I'm starting to get back on track now though, and I wouldn't have been able to without their support. So, Thank you Dr. Trumpy, Dr. Korshavn, and Dr. Holder :) You guys are awesome!
So there we go! I'm caught up to where I should be now!
New baby Reezlyn as mentioned in Day 5 of thankfulness!
Have a good rest of your day everyone!

30 Days of Thankfulness. Day 4
For Day 4, I am thankful for my Father. He's the best dad a girl could ever ask for. I remember at age 3, asking him to marry him, and being very dissapointed when he said no :). He's there for me when I'm depressed, when I'm happy, when I'm mad, or hyper, etc. But right now, I'm more thankful for him than usual...about an hr ago, my dad went to the ER feeling 'off'. We don't know what's wrong yet, it could be as simple as needing his BP meds adjusted, or as complicated as a neurological issue or a blood clot.
Anyway, my Dad is the greatest dad on earth. And as pathetic as it is to be 'thankful' when something bad happens, I'm thankful more often than that. I've always had a really good relationship with my father, really really good. We had a couple of bumps, but to this day, he'll let me occasionally snuggle up with him :)
I love my dad, and I wouldn't be where I am today without him (in more than just the obvious way :P).
Thank you Daddy...I LOVE you!

30 Days of Thankfulness. Day 3
For my 3rd day of thankfulness, I am going a bit of a different route-the material route.
I am thankful for my sewing machine; I know that's weird.
Nearly 13 years ago (I can't believe it) my Grandma Grandma died. I was 6 years old. I grew up without my grandmother, but hearing stores about her. About everything she did for the community, for her family, her friends, and how much she cared about people. One major thing I learned about her, is how crafty she was. She made me SO MANY things as a child. She made me pajamas, outfits, books...etc.
Anyway, 2 years ago, I picked up sewing and learned that I actually have a talent sewing! Since then, I've made...many...things...many many. My first thing, was pacifier chains (ribbon) for a little girl...then it was a car seat cover, then a shopping cart cover, then my first piece of clothing...a little dress :) But, 2 years later, I am currently sitting infront of my sewing machine, sewing a dress for that same little girl that I made those pacifier chains for. (Actually 90% of what I sew is for said little girl).

30 Days of Thankfulness. Day 2
For the 2nd day of thankfulness, I would like to thank a very important person in my life. My best friend, and 'boyfriend', Bo. He's been around since my freshman year of high school, and we've been through the good, the bad, and the ugly.
My freshman year of HS, I was going through a lot. I had severe anxiety, and was in a constant state of panic. I was also dealing with the depression that comes with said state of panic.
This is going to sound weird...but he's my 'one time at band camp' story. We met at freshman band camp. He was one of the older people who had come to help out. He was a sophomore when I was a freshman. We eventually started talking more...and we ended up going to driver's ed together...where we shared our first kiss...which is something I will NEVER forget (but that's another story...)
Anywho, We started dating on April 6th of 2009. We've been dating 'on and off' since then. He goes to college in Minnesota, while I'm in Wisconsin, and theres about a 6-7 hr drive to get to him. The stress of the distance is hard...but we aren't giving up.
But, none of that is the point. The point is...he's been there for me. When I had a panic attack and we had friends over...he went up to my room with me and sat with me while I cried.
When we got into a fight after he forgot about dinner (he had been REALLY busy with the school musical), he came to my house, at midnight, and called me. It was like the 'prince throwing stones at the window' type thing.
When my Grammy died, he played the piano at her funeral.
He has listened to pretty much every single rant, sob story, freak out, etc that I have had over the past 4 years. That takes a lot...
Bo is a major part of my life. I can't say that if he hadn't come into my life...that I would be here now, I honestly don't know. He became my strength when I had nothing left. He was the only friend that I had...and one of the few 'true' friends that I have today. I am so thankful for him, and everything that he is.

30 Days of Thankfulness, Day 1!
Today is the first day of '30 days of thankfulness' and I would like to start it out with a very special family who I've become very close to over the past 2 1/2 years.
2 1/2 years ago, I was coming out of my sophomore year of high school, had recently lost my grandmother (within a month of meeting them) and was also dealing with the splitting of my childhood church and all of the lovely drama that goes with it.
I met them in the new church nursery, I was watching their then 3 year old son. A new member class was also starting, so I agreed to babysitt for them at their home for their two boys, Connor and Liam. At this time, the mother was also pregnant with their 3rd child, their first little girl.
The summer went by and I got increasingly close to them. That october they welcomed little Lucy into the world. I still remember the first time I held her just over 2 years ago. She was so tiny, so soft, and so innocent. The first things I said to her, was 'I'll never say no'. 2 years later...I've said no...a lot...but that little girl has taught me so much. She has taught me how to love in a way that I did not know was possible. She is difficult, and loud, and obnoxious, and stubborn, and moody...but she's wonderful. She has so much spunk, and is SO smart, and she's probably the most adorable girl on earth (maybe I'm a little biased...) but she is the little sister I never knew I was missing out on.
Then there are her brothers, Connor and Liam. They are like my little brothers. Connor is now 9 1/2, he's one of the smartest and most mature (most of the time...) kids I know. He reads, A LOT, and he is strong about the things he is passionate about, he doesn't back down just because someone disagrees. YEah he's a pain in the side, but the love he has for his little brother and sister is amazing. Seeing all 3 of them cuddled up on the couch is a real joy for me :)
Lastly, Liam. Liam is different...he's constantly in 'Liam Land' and is always thinking up something new. As taxing as that can get, he keeps life interesting. Plus he's the sweetest little boy I know. He has a heart of gold, and no matter how bizarre his ideas are, he usually wants to help people. Plus, he is SO creative. He can go down to the basement and come up with a dozen really good pictures that he just drew.
Finally, Trish and Nate. They are like, parents mixed with sibblings mixed with really good friends. They have taught me so much about life, and living it the way I want to, and not the way others want me to. They've taught me about different views of the world, and constantly give me great advice. Plus...they talk about some pretty funny stories, and are quite entertaining.

Captin Rex (Connor), Angry Cupcake (Lucy) and Viking Warrior (Liam)
I really love this family, like my own. They've not only taught me a lot, but the've added so much to my life and have become a major part of it, and I am SO thankful for everything they have done...they've contributed to my life so much and can't imagine my life without them!

Halloween!
For the first time in a few years, I am dressing up for Halloween.
It is also the first time in a few years that I am actually HAPPY on Halloween.
The past few years, I have sat, avoiding the door, while my 'friends' went trick or treating (in high school mind you).
This year I am actually pretty happy! I am taking some very special kids trick or treating with their mom, and I am actually dressing up!!
Here is my costume...

I'll leave you with a photo of my dog again :) She is our little pumpkin for Halloween!!

The World Around Us
I am currently sitting in my philosophy class, where we are watching a movie on hinduism. Over the past week we have been studying hinduism. Prior to this unit, we studied many philosophers ranging from Socrates and Plato to Descartes and Sartre. Now that's all great and wonderful, but what's my point...? I'm getting there...
In this class we've learned SO MANY different perspectives and it got me to thinking. We all, (mainly westerners) are kind of stuck in our world. Our world of crafting, small businesses, 'deadlines' for finishing projects, school, work, etc. All these things filling our life, flitering in and out with little meaning.
When you look around the world, there are so many cultures, and so many that are UNLIKE our own. I don't know a lot, but I do know that there are so many different cultures where a person's 'time' is more valuable than what they actually 'get done' meaning, it's not all about filtering in and out of projects.
So what is my meaning with all of this? Well, I'm making a change. Other people are welcome to join me in this change, but by no means does anyone have to. I am going to start focusing more on family, on what I am grateful for, and not so much 'projects' that yes have meaning, but may not have everyday meaning. My point is, find meaning to your day, don't let it just be another day. I personally am sick and tired of living this fast paced life...I want to enjoy everyday for what it's worth.
So. This post was a little bit out there, a little bit scatterbrained and all over the place, but it was meant to get people thinking. I hope that my point was gotten across, if anyone has any questions, ideas, or comments, feel free to leave them! I love feedback and hearing other's ideas!
I will leave ya'll with this, VERY blurry pic. This is Liam, dressed as Aaron Rodgers. Liam is 6 years old, and lives each day to the fullest better than anyone I know. A lesson can be learned from those around us, even if those people are little ones :)

Quiet Book for Lucy
Over the past few months I have been making a quiet book for a very special little girl named Lucy.
Lucy will be 2 years old this upcoming thursday and this is my gift to her!!
Here is the cover, I embroidered the title and the flower stems and butterfly (Don't mind the blue dot, it's water ink and I need to rinse it off still!) The Middle flower comes off of the button. The back is the same print as the cover.
I got the idea for the mailbox from Imagine Our Life along with the pattern for the mailbox and letters/envelopes. There are a TON of AMAZING patterns on her site, and I HIGHLY recommend checking her out, she has SO much talent.
The 'Tie My Shoe Page' was originally from How to make a Quiet Book there are a BUNCH of great patterns and she really goes over the basics!
These next 2 pages (Flowers and weaving) were again from How to make a Quiet Book and
The cupcake pages were from Imagine our life
Lastly the counting page (not complete) was from How to make a Quiet Book (I THINK!)
I hope you enjoy! If I can help anyone, feel free to post a comment! I love getting feedback as well!
